Industry standards might allow thousands of animals per hectare, but on Tembys Farm, you’ll find fewer than 750 per hectare. That’s not a number we picked arbitrarily. It’s a stocking density that gives our animals room to move, room to forage, and room to live naturally.
When you visit our farm, you won’t see crowded paddocks or animals jostling for space. You’ll see them spread across lush pastures, grazing at their own pace, resting in the shade when the day warms up, and roaming freely across the rolling hills that have been home to Tembys Farm for generations. They have the freedom to explore, to forage, and to behave exactly as nature intended.
A Life on Pasture
For us, free-range means a life outdoors—every day, not just when conditions are convenient. Our animals are raised on pasture from the very beginning. They’re not confined to barns or indoor sheds. They’re not locked away during certain seasons. They are outside, on grass, from sunrise to sunset, rain or shine.
That doesn’t mean we don’t provide shelter. We do—plenty of it. Our paddocks are dotted with natural windbreaks, mature trees that have stood for decades, and mobile shelters that give animals a place to retreat when they want it. But the choice is theirs. They come and go as they please, living a life that’s as close to nature as we can provide.

We practice rotational grazing, moving our animals across paddocks to give the land time to rest and regenerate. We never use synthetic chemicals or artificial fertilisers. We let the land heal itself, naturally.
